Aloha~ My name is Dr. Melissa Honeycutt and I am the Owner and Physical Therapist at Big Island Pelvic Health. I originally graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2007 with my Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. I continued to pursue my goals to become a skilled physical therapist at the University of R.I. in 2011 with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
After 7 years of working in various environments and specialities in Rhode Island, my family and I decided to pursue our dreams to move to the Island of Hawai’i. We originally established ourselves in Kailua-Kona where I worked and treated individuals with orthopedic and pelvic health conditions on the West Side. We then had an opportunity to move to the East Side or Hilo for occupational reasons and looked forward to our new venture ahead. That was when I decided to open up the practice of Big Island Pelvic Health, LLC.
My post-doctoral focus and passion has been on enhancing my skills in the lumbar, hip, and pelvic region. Although, my integrative skills over time has emerged from treating each ailment singularly to observing the body as a whole. I have pursued and completed training, extensive courses, and mentorships in Women’s Health and Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation. My practice includes internal and external assessments of the pelvic floor and surrounding structures, along with progressive and evidenced-based interventions. I believe in seeking what is best to achieve the most satisfactory quality of life for each individual.
I enjoy spending my time by exploring this beautiful Island with my partner, Jason, and our 2 sprightly children. Our family or Ohana love to explore and go on adventures, whether it’s up in the mountains (mauka) or in the ocean (makai). We are truly grateful to be here and to be able to serve the Hilo Community of Hawaii.
